Rhapsody Baton wins First Coast Championships 2009

Rhapsody Baton Team of Central Florida attend the First Coast Championships held in Jacksonville, FL on March 7th, 2009. The juvenile team once again won the Small Dance Twirl Division with their program to L-O-V-E .
The crowds were wowed by Rhapsody’s freestyle programs. Sam’s program to Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride showcased her ability to stretch and use Hawaiian dance blended with her baton contact androll sections. Miss Kathleen sparkled in her Carol of the Bells program. Her floor coverage and timing were very strong.
Kiersten & Sam (the 2008 National Dance Twirl Pairs Champions) unveiled their freestyle program “Best Friends” to the original music by QUEEN. When asked about competing together …Sam said “My favorite part of the routine is where Kiersten picks me up and we spin around!”. Kiersten said, “I love doing pairs with Sam because she is a good friend and it’s fun!”
Rhapsody continued to place strongly in individual events. Placements for Basic: Emily placed 3rd of 5. Grace 2nd of 9, Jessica 1st, Kathleen 1st, Strut: Elizabeth Delgado 1st, Two Baton: Sam received a score of 5.00, MK 4th of 6,
L-O-V-E
Kiersten 1st with a score of 4.42. Solo: MK 1st of 4 with a score of 4.53. Dance Twirl: MK 1st with a score of 4.99. Sam 2nd of 3.
The team is continuing to work toward their goal of capturing this years State and Regional Championships.
